GST Graafinen Studio is an Oulu-based advertising agency specialized in visual design, founded already in 1992.

Illustrations, graphic design, internet design, corporate identities and print media are our daily assignments. Examples can be found in our Portfolio pages. MD Ilpo Koskela writes and draws high quality information graphics and commission comics. We design and produce publications in book format, as well as annual reports and presentation materials used at fairs and trade shows.
 
As a small agency we are cost-effective and flexible. A good choice for an information partner.

Visions

Three of Finland's leading companies studying the vitality of urban centers, offered their visions of Oulu's core, Ramboll Finland, Salokorpi-yhtiöt Oy and WSP Finland Oy. Ilpo Koskela made three illustrations based on their visions of Oulu. The illustrations were realized by combining vector graphics, backgrounds and drawings with ink and colors, the content of speech bubbles. Check out all three »

Poster work

GST Graafinen Studio started cooperation with the Finnish Seamen's Union SMU. The first job Ilpo Koskela illustrated for them is a retro poster-type advertising material for their 2024 representative assembly. The work has been implemented as a vector graphic and designed so that it can be printed or published online, from postcard size to a high wall surface.

Website for a literary event

Black Hole is an international literature network focused on translating and foreign rights, based in Oulu, Finland. Black Hole – Books meet Rights is a yearly event arranged by the network. We aim to bring together publishers, agents, translators, and authors to further book translations and networking.

GST Graafinen Studio designed and implemented a website for the event in the WordPress publishing system. Inertica Oy, a long-term partner, was responsible for the programming. Black Hole –logo was designed by Lauri Ahtinen. Click on the image to see the event and the website. #grafiatekija

Port Oulu Handbook 2021–2022

Publication of the Port of Oulu, which will be distributed to the officers and crews of incoming ships. The publication presents the port's operations, companies related to port services, as well as the Oulu region and its services. The Lights On! Bring ancient history alive through the power of comics

The Lights On! Program by Metsähallitus and RMK from Estonia brings ancient history alive through the power of comics. Finished works included with translations can be read as pictures 100 centimeters in length located at a place which is heavily connected with the historical story. Some of the works will be presented as illustrations for mobile versions that can be read by scanning QR codes. There's four attractions in Finland and also four in Estonia.

Ilpo Koskela has made from six to nine comic book stories of each of the historical places. He's artistic process included researching history from the pages of books and examining sketches with archaeologists. The finished products are already at the right attractions. Read more »
